From 1980: MARVEL UK's THE UNCANNY X-MEN WINTER SPECIAL.
I've always found the British Bullpen's enthusiasm for running WHAT IF tales in one-shots perplexing. Presumably their appeal rested in their self-contained done-in-one format but, for casual readers, not only were you not getting a true representation of the characters/ continuity but it also relied on a basic knowledge of what had been before to make it work.

I finally bought the buck rogers volume today in forbidden planet at half price - hurrah !
Hurrah! Good find... and half-price is even better as I recall it was pretty expensive at full price!

a blast for buck indeed ! Its been hanging around my forbidden planet since 2013, they had already marked it down before but once i saw the new low price, i had to have it. I also have the original adaptation of the first episodes. That blog of yours was a turning point for me in how i collect comics. It made me realise how much cool stuff was available and what i had been missing.
